MYI DIRECTOR, HENRY FAARUP, APPOINTED AS THE REPUBLIC OF PANAMA’S AMBASSADOR TO FRANCE
ATLANTA, Georgia USA, October 22, 2009 - Henry Faarup, McLarens Young International President for Latin America and member of the Board of Directors, has been appointed as Panama’s ambassador to France by Panama president Ricardo Martinelli.
Ambassador Faarup was appointed to this five year posting effective July 1, 2009, and also holds concurrent appointments as ambassador to Switzerland and Andorra, as well as representing Panama as her Permanent Delegate to UNESCO. He and his wife Liz will reside in Paris during their tour of service. His responsibilities will include both diplomatic and commercial activities between the two countries. The widening of the Panama Canal and the construction of a new metro (subway) in Panama City will add renewed importance to Panama as a global trade center, and are just two of several issues on which he will focus.
Ambassador Faarup was born in Panama and educated there, and in the United States, Belgium, and France. Schooled as an engineer and holding an MBA, he speaks fluent Spanish, English, and French.
He started his insurance career with the ASSA Insurance Company in 1975, and subsequently joined a Norwegian reinsurer serving Latin-American clients. He founded his own insurance claims company in Panama in 1980, and became a partner with McLarens Young in 1990.
